Add a WhatsApp Provider

This step-by-step guide explains how to add a WhatsApp provider to Switch.

Before you can send WhatsApp messages to members, you need to add a WhatsApp provider first. SwitchTransact supports Twilio and Infobip as WhatsApp API communicators.


How to set up Twilio

Twilio supports sending and receiving messages to and from WhatsApp users, expanding your reach and availability to important contacts on any convenient platform.

Follow these steps to get started with Twilio.


Step1. Create your Twilio Account

  • Create a Twilio account here.
  • Obtain your WhatsApp number and link it with your Twilio account.

Step 2. Create your WhatsApp Provider on Switch

Once you have your Twilio account set up, you can copy the API keys from your dashboard and use it in the next steps


  • Navigate to Settings-Message Providers-WhatsApp

  • Click on Create

  • Provider: Select Twilio as your Provider.
  • Name: This is usually the name of the Provider.
  • API Key: From your Twilio dashboard, copy and paste the "Account SID" to API Key.
  • API Secret: From your Twilio dashboard, copy and paste the "Auth Token" to the API Secret.
  • Mobile Number: This is the contact number used when setting up your WhatsApp Twilio account.
  • Is Active: Check to make this provider active.
  • Is Default: Check to make this your default provider.

  • Click on Save to complete setup.

How to set up Infobip

Infobip allows you to send and receive simple messages.

Follow these steps to set up Infobip as a WhatsApp provider:


Step1. Create your Infobip Account

  • Create a new account on Infobip and select WhatsApp during the setup wizard.
  • Obtain your WhatsApp number and link it with your Infobip account.
  • Add the provider on your phone as requested by visiting Infobip Portal.

Step 2. Setup Switch:

Once you have your Infobip account set up, you can copy the API keys from your dashboard and use it in the next steps:


  • Navigate to Settings-Message Providers-WhatsApp.

  • Click on Create.

  • Provider: Select Infobip as your Provider.
  • Name: This is usually the name of the Provider.
  • API Key: From your Infobip home page, copy and paste the API Key.
  • API Secret: From your Twilio home page, copy and paste the API Secret.
  • Mobile Number: Use the same mobile number as the one you added by scanning the QR code.
  • Is Active: Check to make this provider active.
  • Is Default: Check to make this your default provider.

  • Click on Save to complete setup.
